Callipo & Roxy - Norfolk Horse Photo Shoot

North Elmham in Norfolk on a beautiful day is a stunning location, especially when you get to photograph the fabulous Callipo and Roxy with their humans Freya & Harlie. Luckily we managed to stick to our planned date, despite a week of typical ‘British’ weather. We were blessed with blue skies, sunshine and lots of fluffy clouds!

My studio for the day was a gorgeous old barn, where we were accompanied by a family of nesting robin redbreasts. The horses were naturals in front of the camera. With a little persuasion in the form of numerous tasty treats and lots of jumping around making silly noises we eventually succeeded in getting those ears forward. However, the close bond between the girls and their horses needed no coaxing.

It was clear to see that they shared a special relationship, and it was an honour to be able to capture this.

Once outside, the location’s rustic brickwork and spacious grounds provided the perfect backdrop to stretch our legs and have some fun. It was a great opportunity to take a variety of natural photos of the horses in a more relaxing environment, and the light from the warm sun was definitely on my side.

Ultimately my job was made all the more enjoyable thanks to the fantastic company of the girls and their families, and I’m really glad they are pleased with the results! Next time we’ll be swapping horses for dogs and the family more involved - and I can’t wait!
